Apple will introduce 120Hz displays in its 2020 iPhones

A rumor about 2020 iPhone models have surfaced on the internet claiming that the next year’s iPhones will have a 120Hz refresh rate display. Apple could bring this as a key improvement to its iPhones by borrowing the future-proof feature from the latest iPad Pro.

Apple may add quick and ultra-smooth displays to its 2020 line-up of iPhones, for which the company is currently in discussion with Samsung and LG. Twitter leaker Ice Universe, recently unveiled that next year’s iPhone models might feature a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The simple increase in refresh rate translates to a massive increase in responsiveness and significantly improved user experience with more fluid scrolling, greater responsiveness, and smoother motion content. Leaks also hint that Apple is considering a switchable 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate screen on the iPhone in 2020. Apple will surely get an enticing bullet point to market at enthusiasts and gamers alike by moving to a 120Hz panel.

Not only Apple, but every other company is gradually shifting to ultra-smooth displays. We have seen 120Hz LCD screens on Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2, we are yet to see a 120Hz OLED panel on a phone, although rumors suggest that the ROG Phone 2 will be bringing a 120Hz AMOLED display. 120Hz OLED panel would end up putting a lot of stress on the battery life of the 2020 iPhone. 120Hz means is that the screen will refresh 120 times per second, ensuring smoother interactions and experience while scrolling through apps and even offer fast and seamless gameplay.

Apple iPhones X, XS, XS Max, and iPhone XR were already possessing 120Hz touch-sensing power whereas the screen refresh rate was hovering at about 60Hz to prove a drag on visual experience that hurts gamers the most. The switch to a 120Hz OLED panel on the 2020 iPhone lineup would be a step in the right direction and help improve the overall smoothness of these devices. The company is also expected to launch four devices with 5G compatibility and advanced 3D sensing camera technology. The 120Hz refresh rate in next year’s iPhone is one of many things we’ve been hearing about the unannounced iPhones.
